Welcome to the weekend! Paula Faris was announced on Monday, July 21 by ABC News as Good Morning America's weekend co-anchor.
The network said Faris, 38, will replace the outgoing Bianna Golodryga in the spot effective Aug. 8. Faris most recently gained exposure as ABC's reporter at the World Cup in Brazil. Prior to that, she was best known as the network's World News Now anchor, after joining ABC from NBC Chicago in 2012.
ABC News President James Goldston called Faris "a terrific broadcaster" in his announcement, sent to the network's entire news division on Monday morning. "Our audience on the weekends is growing steadily, and GMA is now the most-watched morning newscast on Saturdays and regularly beats Today on Sunday mornings," Goldston told employees.

Her predecessor Golodryga is leaving ABC for Yahoo! News, where she will be a news and finance anchor alongside Katie Couric. Golodryga has been a co-anchor at GMA since 2010 and will continue to appear on-air for combined reports from Yahoo! and ABC News.
Faris will join current co-anchor Dan Harris at the news desk on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Another change will include a new weekend weatherman, Rob Marciano.
